Casa Rei Beach Lodge in Pomene is situated on the North shore of the estuary, the ideal spot for those who want to ‘get away from it all'.

The estuary is a nursery to an abundance of sea life, flamingos and the occasional sighting of the very rare Dugong with kilometers of tidal water washing through untouched mangrove swamps.  The lodge has access to 30km of uninhabited coastline stretching to the North.

The lodge is suited to 4x4 enthusiasts (3 hours of tracks to the lodge once off the main road) or those seeking the thrill of adventure in a remote destination.

There are a number of privately owned chalets to rent. These are either three or four bedroom chalets with the estuary behind and the beach in front. These chalets are fully furnished (although guests are required to bring own linen).

The Fisherman Campsite comprises 5 rondavel style bedrooms, a large rondavel fishing tackle room, a large rectangular kitchen/lounge with a kitchen and separate ablutions. The camp is geared towards campers but also offers accommodation in tents (3m x 3m) supplied with two mattresses each.  Each tent is pitched under a thatched rondavel.

The camp has a gas freezer and stove and a 12v solar powered light system in the lounge and kitchen. Gas for freezer and stove to be supplied by the guests.

Mattresses, linen, cutlery and a staff member to assist with cleaning is included in the rate.

The Casa Rei campsite is an ideal choice for campers that want that Mozambique camping experience with a few modern comforts.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Please bring own bath and beach towels. Sun screen and mosquito spray advisable. Only accessible by 4x4 vehicle (3 hours’ drive on dirt tracks from the main road). Guests are also requested to bring own gas and linen.

Guests are required to bring the following:

Gas for the freezer and two plate stove (freezer uses approximately 1kg per day and stove approximately one third of that).  The gas regulator is a standard fitting for a large bottle (not the small portable camping gas bottle)

Fuel to pump water (approx 5lt per week)

Campers will require own lights and freezer.

The Beach Front Chalets and Mark Camp & Dune Chalet include one staff member.  Guests will need to employ a second cleaning lady at approximately R50.00 per day.

Guests are required to pay MTZ255.00 (approximately ZAR85.00) per day tax - to be paid in Meticais at Pomene.
