Island View offers self-catering wood and palm thatched houses which are tastefully furnished, serviced, cool and comfortable. These fully equipped self-cottages cottages each sleep eight guests in four bedrooms with two bathrooms. All beds have mosquito netting. The cottages also have open-plan fully equipped kitchens, dining and lounge areas and large covered patios.

Lovely camp sites in a garden setting under coconut palms and indigenous trees - 150m from the beach - are available for those who prefer camping.  Clean ablutions, power points and water are included in the rate.

Enjoy stunning views of the Bazaruto Archipelago across the calm bay from the covered patio where you can watch the dhows and enjoy your meals, read, and relax. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the swimming pool and make use of the gas grill on the patio to prepare fresh fish, crays and prawns - or walk 50 m along the beach to enjoy authentic Portuguese cuisine at a neighbouring restaurant.

Boats can be safely launched from Island View into calm clear water or choose to take a charter to the best diving and fishing spots, go island hopping in a local dhow, or ride camels on the beach.

With the turquoise, calm waters of Vilanculos just a few steps from the houses, cool sea breezes washing over the large patio and the busy restaurants and bars of Vilanculos a 20 minute drive away – who could ask for more?

Cleanliness:  Excellent

Overall:  Good

A beautifully run spot with everything you could want for an “Island” -style self-catering getaway. Cottages were neat and tidy.

Nr 9 was better equipped than Nr 11 iro kitchen utensils, plates etc. We also found that Nr 9 was lighter & brighter. Nr 11 was quite dark & gloomy inside. Nr 9 definitely has the better layout for people renting for holidays. A skottel braai was an absolute necessity as the power seemed to go off almost every day – we would have really struggled without this. I’d also recommend that future guests are told to bring gas lamps or alternative lighting because the lighting inside both cottages wasn’t great. You definitely need torches to read or play games at night – the wall lighting is pretty poor and with the frequent power cuts you need to ensure everyone has light. The website says that back-up generators, gas stoves and emergency lighting are in place – this isn’t accurate. The generator was activated probably 2x over 16 nights / there’s no gas stoves (luckily we had the skottel) and emergency lighting is a small light in the kitchen of unit 9 only.

Besides for these minor details, we had a wonderful time. We loved the cottages, the garden and the direct access to the beach. Our cleaning ladies were both superb! Sitting back in the office now and longing to be lounging in my hammock with a cold beer and waiting for the tide to come in. ?

Thanks for everything – we really hope that we can visit again sometime soon.
