Located in the Western area of the reserve, Woestalleen Lodge is conveniently situated near the reserve's central airstrip. If travelling by road, the lodge is a pleasant 2.5-hour drive from Johannesburg, which makes Welgovenden Game Reserve one of the most accessible malaria free wilderness reserves in the country. But what truly sets this lodge apart, is its breathtaking location on top of the Waterberg, offering guests unparalleled views of the reserve and its inhabitants. From the lodge's deck, guests can watch in awe as lion, elephant and other game frequently visit the private waterhole just below. The property is unfenced so visitors can truly immerse themselves in the natural beauty and wildlife of the reserve. Inside the main lodge, you'll find a warm and inviting open-plan lounge with a large fireplace, a master bedroom and a dining room that leads out to an enclosed entertainment area with a large table and loungers, all overlooking the busy waterhole. Woestalleen Lodge can comfortably accommodate 10 people in 5 bedroom suites. Besides the master bedroom in the main lodge, there are two adjacent chalets, each with 2 en-suite bedrooms connected by a patio. All beds can be converted from twins into king-size beds providing guests with the flexibility to accommodate different sleeping arrangements. Unique to Woestalleen Lodge is the flexibility of either choosing to have your meals fully catered (on a full board basis) or the alternative of bringing your own food and the resident chef will do all the preparation and cooking for you. We will discuss and plan suggested meal options for the duration of the stay before your arrival at the lodge which will then be prepared according to your specific preference. In addition to the stunning scenery, Woestalleen Lodge offers a variety of amenities to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool or enjoy a traditional braai in the boma area, while taking in the breathtaking view of the waterhole. Included in your stay are morning and evening Safari game drives, led by an accredited and experienced game ranger. Afternoon game drives include sundowners in the bush together with your snacks and preferred drinks whilst watching the spectacular African sunset.
